Peace, Love & Friends

I've been a horrible blogger, getting all caught up in my busy life and not bothering to document a moment of it. But that might also have something to do with the unfortunate fact that my busy life has not been so exciting lately.

Although I've had a quite exciting last few days. I finally had a weekend off from work (I love my job, but having to work on Saturdays makes it hard to hang out with friends) and was able to head up to Burlington and spend the weekend living the college life again. I crashed with my friend B for the night, and we stayed up till 4am catching up on everything that had been happening in our lives; talking, laughing, singing, crying, dancing, everything. Catching up on some much needed girl talk was great. It was just what I needed.

Peace, Love & All-Nighters

The past two days I have stayed up all night talking, laughing, watching movies and eating with friends. Its the best feeling, staying up late talking and laughing with good friends until it starts to get light again. And the early morning light is so absolutely beautiful that it might even be worth getting up really early every once in a while just to watch the sunrise.

Peace, Love & Squirrels

Today in the dining hall my friends and I spent the majority of lunch watching a crafty little squirrel scamper around the bookstore, and up onto a trash can. At first we were simply amazed by how adorable he looked running in circles on top of the trash can. Then, when he fell into the trash can, we began to worry about him. At this point, about 3 or 4 other tables were also watching the squirrels antics. A few people were ready to go outside and help the little guy out of the trash can when up he popped, carrying off two cookies. What a crafty little squirrel. We were all thoroughly impressed.

Peace, Love & Winter

Burlington is slowly but surely becoming a winter wonderland, and it is beautiful.

Peace, Love & 10 Things

10 Things I Hate About You is possibly one of my favorite movies. It is definitely my favorite 90's rom-com. It has every required element: the pissed-off loner chick, the shallow blonde, the mysterious bad boy, prom, big romantic gestures, an AV geek, and a live band. Plus, it has Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Julia Stiles. And all of that adds up to awesomeness. Which is why it is perfect for a finals week anti-stress movie night.

Peace, Love & My Awesome Mom

My mom called me earlier today to inform me that she was on her way to Burlington and that she had cookies.
She just dropped off a giant tin of her absolutely delicious homemade chocolate chip and toffee cookies.
This is why I love my mom.

Peace, Love & Rockstar Letters

Inspired by Naomi's adorable Little Letters, I thought I would write some Little Letters of my own.

Dear mukluks,
You are wonderful and keep my feet toasty warm in my freezing cold room.

Dear snow,
I love the nice little dusting of white you have left all over Burlington.

Dear RA,
You are the coolest. I will miss you and all of our little chats terribly over break.

Dear finals week,
I will survive you. And maintain my sanity through it all.

Dear sister,
I love our phone calls I have missed you tons and tons and can't wait to see you soon!

Dear wind,
You sound so beautiful whistling through my window, but you are so cold.

Dear Boys Upstairs,
What on Earth do you do in your room? It sounds like you are rearranging the furniture. Every night.

Peace, Love & Finals Week

Peace, Love & Sundays

This morning has been a lovely lazy Sunday so far. I woke up early, watched CBS Sunday Morning in bed, cozied up in warm knits, and caught up on the blogs I read at my freshly cleaned desk with a steaming mug of tea. And now I am watching Eloise at Christmastime (one of my favorite holiday movies) with a freshly popped bag of popcorn.
Now if only I didn't have so many papers to write....

Peace, Love & Shooting Stars

I walked down to the Burlington Waterfront with a group of friends to watch the meteor shower last night. It was a cold and tiring walk, but it was totally worth it. The sky was perfectly clear, and we managed to find a nice dark spot away from streetlights and buildings to watch the show. It was beautiful, and I hope I can go out and watch them again tonight.

Peace, Love & Sunsets

"J'aime bien les couchers de soleil. Allons voir un coucher de soleil..."
- Antoine de Saint Exupéry

There aren't many things more beautiful than a sunset. Last year I had the perfect view of the sunset from my dorm window, but this year I have a lovely view of a street. So I have to settle for watching the gorgeous sunsets we get here in Burlington from the dining hall. Which, admittedly, is quite beautiful, with the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking campus and the lake. The colors of the sunsets have been incredibly vibrant and beautiful lately, and it is worth staring into the blinding light to eat my dinners looking out on the sunsets.
