Peace, Love & More About Road Trips

So that road trip I've been lusting after; there is a destination in mind. I want to leave late at night on New Year's Eve and drive to the ocean. And once I get there, I want to watch the first sunrise of the year while standing on the beach. And then eat breakfast at a cute little diner as the sky brightens.

Peace, Love & Words of Wisdom

Peace, Love & Road Trips

I want to take a road trip, just get away from everything, even if its just for a day.

Peace, Love & Christmas Eve Again

Today my mom, sister, and I are baking Christmas cookies, watching Christmas movies, eating candy canes, and making a fire in the fireplace. Who cares if Christmas was two days ago? We never got around to doing these things on Christmas Eve like we usually do, so we're pretending today is Christmas Eve. We are going to sit around in our PJs all day listening to Christmas music and doing Christmas-y things. It shall be a blast.

Peace, Love & Christmas Eve

The lights are up, our tree is decorated, the stockings are hung, my shopping is finished, the presents are wrapped, and now I'm relaxing with a nice warm mug of hot cocoa. Merry Christmas Eve.

Peace, Love & Indy

One of my good friends from school has to fly home, and can't bring her fish with her for winter break. So little Indy gets to come home with Auntie J for Christmas. We are going to have lots of wonderful adventures! I can't wait.

Peace, Love & All-Nighters

The past two days I have stayed up all night talking, laughing, watching movies and eating with friends. Its the best feeling, staying up late talking and laughing with good friends until it starts to get light again. And the early morning light is so absolutely beautiful that it might even be worth getting up really early every once in a while just to watch the sunrise.

Peace, Love & Squirrels

Today in the dining hall my friends and I spent the majority of lunch watching a crafty little squirrel scamper around the bookstore, and up onto a trash can. At first we were simply amazed by how adorable he looked running in circles on top of the trash can. Then, when he fell into the trash can, we began to worry about him. At this point, about 3 or 4 other tables were also watching the squirrels antics. A few people were ready to go outside and help the little guy out of the trash can when up he popped, carrying off two cookies. What a crafty little squirrel. We were all thoroughly impressed.

Peace, Love & Winter

Burlington is slowly but surely becoming a winter wonderland, and it is beautiful.

Peace, Love & 10 Things

10 Things I Hate About You is possibly one of my favorite movies. It is definitely my favorite 90's rom-com. It has every required element: the pissed-off loner chick, the shallow blonde, the mysterious bad boy, prom, big romantic gestures, an AV geek, and a live band. Plus, it has Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Julia Stiles. And all of that adds up to awesomeness. Which is why it is perfect for a finals week anti-stress movie night.

Peace, Love & My Awesome Mom

My mom called me earlier today to inform me that she was on her way to Burlington and that she had cookies.
She just dropped off a giant tin of her absolutely delicious homemade chocolate chip and toffee cookies.
This is why I love my mom.

Peace, Love & Rockstar Letters

Inspired by Naomi's adorable Little Letters, I thought I would write some Little Letters of my own.

Dear mukluks,
You are wonderful and keep my feet toasty warm in my freezing cold room.

Dear snow,
I love the nice little dusting of white you have left all over Burlington.

Dear RA,
You are the coolest. I will miss you and all of our little chats terribly over break.

Dear finals week,
I will survive you. And maintain my sanity through it all.

Dear sister,
I love our phone calls I have missed you tons and tons and can't wait to see you soon!

Dear wind,
You sound so beautiful whistling through my window, but you are so cold.

Dear Boys Upstairs,
What on Earth do you do in your room? It sounds like you are rearranging the furniture. Every night.

Peace, Love & Finals Week

Peace, Love & Sundays

This morning has been a lovely lazy Sunday so far. I woke up early, watched CBS Sunday Morning in bed, cozied up in warm knits, and caught up on the blogs I read at my freshly cleaned desk with a steaming mug of tea. And now I am watching Eloise at Christmastime (one of my favorite holiday movies) with a freshly popped bag of popcorn.
Now if only I didn't have so many papers to write....

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

Peace, Love & Grapefruit

I had a wonderfully lazy morning today, complete with grapefruit and tea for breakfast. I cozied up in a big warm sweater and my brand new knitted mukluks and caught up on all of the blogs I haven't had time to read lately.
And I discovered: great minds think alike.

Somedays you just need a hug. Today is one of those days.

Peace, Love & Shooting Stars

I walked down to the Burlington Waterfront with a group of friends to watch the meteor shower last night. It was a cold and tiring walk, but it was totally worth it. The sky was perfectly clear, and we managed to find a nice dark spot away from streetlights and buildings to watch the show. It was beautiful, and I hope I can go out and watch them again tonight.

Peace, Love & Nora

I don't remember how I first came across this video, but I am LOVING it. Especially Nora's pirate outfit and her adorable short new 'do. I wish I could get my hair to look like that.
And her website is wicked cute. Check it out.

Peace, Love & Sunsets

"J'aime bien les couchers de soleil. Allons voir un coucher de soleil..."
- Antoine de Saint Exupéry

There aren't many things more beautiful than a sunset. Last year I had the perfect view of the sunset from my dorm window, but this year I have a lovely view of a street. So I have to settle for watching the gorgeous sunsets we get here in Burlington from the dining hall. Which, admittedly, is quite beautiful, with the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking campus and the lake. The colors of the sunsets have been incredibly vibrant and beautiful lately, and it is worth staring into the blinding light to eat my dinners looking out on the sunsets.

Peace, Love & Airplanes

I love airports. There is something about them; all the people, all the planes, all the opportunities, all the adventures that await. But even more than I love airports I love flying. Just being so high up above everything, speeding through the air puts everything in perspective. You can see entire cities from there, it makes you realize how small you truly are. And it makes all of your problems seem so insignificant and easy to fix. That class that seems too hard? No worries, you can handle it. That job you’re starting to hate? Easy peasy, you can find the silver lining. That boy that’s being dumb? No problem, you can make things work out. All that weight on your shoulders seems to just lift away at takeoff.

Peace, Love & Mornings

I don't think there could be a more perfect morning away from home: waking up in a big comfy bed with early morning sunlight peeking in through the blinds, taking a long hot shower, and curling up with my laptop, a steaming mug of coffee, a great playlist, and the cutest, fuzziest kitten ever. Little Kobe, who is usually very active, spent the morning curled up in my lap in a little purring ball, totally content with his life.
But now I am homeward bound, headed back to the cold and the mountains. And I can't wait to get there.

Peace, Love & Football

At the last minute my dad asked me to join him on a whirlwind weekend trip to North Carolina. Both of my parents grew up in NC and all of our family and many of my parents’ close friends live here. My dad comes down often, and for the past four years I have accompanied him for a quick weekend of visiting as many people as possible. The trips are always too short and we always pack too much in, but I love them. In addition to the usual hectic schedule of visiting friends and family, there are also two football games thrown into the mix this year. Last night was my first football game ever. And while I didn’t really understand what was going on the whole time, it was exciting to watch my friend’s team beat the other team 35-14. And the second game should be even more fun, we are headed to Chapel Hill to watch the UNC game tonight. My dad went to UNC Chapel Hill, so I am a Tar Heel born and raised, and I can’t wait for the game.

Peace, Love & Welcome...

...to my little corner of the world wide web. It's small, but its cute and filled with things I like. So poke around a little, check back often, and enjoy!
